Bangkok, Thailand. Following its vibrant 30th anniversary celebrations in Thailand in 2023, Porsche brings an exciting lineup of cars to the 45th Bangkok International Motor Show 2024 (BIMS), happening from 27 March till 7 April 2024. The event will be held at IMPACT Challenger, Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok, offering Porsche fans and customers the opportunity to get up close and personal with their dream sports cars.
Purpose-built for performance: the 911 GT3 RS
Headlining the 12-car display is the quintessential high-performance sports car that channels Porsche racing DNA – the 911 GT3 RS – celebrating a national unveiling in Thailand. The new Porsche 911 GT3 RS makes no secret of its intentions: it is uncompromisingly designed for maximum performance. The 386 kW (525 PS) road-legal high-performance sports car takes full advantage of technology and concepts from motorsport. Even beyond the high-revving naturally aspirated engine with racing DNA and intelligent lightweight construction, it is, above all, the cooling and aerodynamic systems of the 911 GT3 RS that connect it most directly with its motorsport brother, the 911 GT3 R.
The basis for a significant performance boost is the concept of a central radiator – an idea that was first used in the Le Mans class-winning 911 RSR and subsequently in the 911 GT3 R. Instead of the three-radiator layout seen in previous cars, the new 911 GT3 RS relies on a large, angled centre radiator in the car’s nose, positioned where the luggage compartment is located on other 911 models. This has made it possible to use the space freed up on the sides to integrate active aerodynamic elements.
Continuously adjustable wing elements in the front and on the two-part rear wing, in combination with a number of other aerodynamic measures, provide 409 kg of total downforce at 200 km/h. This means that the new 911 GT3 RS generates twice as much downforce as its 991.2-generation predecessor and three times as much as a current 911 GT3. At 285 km/h, total downforce is 860 kg.
A drag reduction system (DRS) is fitted in a production Porsche for the first time. To achieve low drag and higher speeds on straight sections of the track, the DRS allows the wings to be flattened out at the push of a button, within a specific operating range. The airbrake function is activated during emergency braking at high speeds: the wing elements at the front and rear are set to maximum, creating an aerodynamic deceleration effect that significantly supports the wheel brakes.
The 911 GT3 RS offers three driving modes: Normal, Sport and Track. In Track mode, the basic settings can be individually adjusted. Among other settings, the rebound and compression damping of the front and rear axles can be adjusted separately and in several stages. The rear differential can also be adjusted via rotary controls on the steering wheel. This is done quickly and intuitively with an operating and display concept also borrowed from motorsport: Four individual rotary controls and a button for the Drag Reduction System (DRS) are located on the steering wheel.
The 4.0-litre high-revving naturally aspirated engine has been further optimised compared with the 911 GT3. The increase in power to 386 kW (525 PS) is achieved primarily via new camshafts with modified cam profiles. The single-throttle intake system and the rigid valve drive are derived from motorsport. The seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) has a shorter overall gear ratio than the 911 GT3. Air intakes on the underbody ensure that the transmission can withstand even extreme loads during frequent use on track. The 911 GT3 RS accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 296 km/h in seventh gear.
Intelligent lightweight construction has been a basic principle of all RS models ever since the legendary 911 Carrera RS 2.7. Thanks to an array of lightweight construction measures such as the extensive use of CFRP, the 911 GT3 RS weighs in at only 1,450 kg (kerb weight according to DIN) despite many larger components. The doors, front wings, roof and front lid, for example, are made from CFRP. Lightweight CFRP is also used in the interior, for example in the standard full bucket seats.
A Porsche for every desire at the 45th Bangkok International Motor Show
Enhancing the brand‘s presence even further, Porsche brings its widest-ever range of models to BIMS 2024. From the agile two-door sports cars represented by the 911 and 718 model lines, the sporty and stylish Panamera and Taycan four-door models, as well as the adventurous Cayenne and Macan SUV models, fans and customers can rest assured that their dream sports cars can be found at the Porsche Thailand booth.
The sports car among compact SUVs: the Porsche Macan
With athletic performance, sharp design and an advanced operating concept, all variants of the Porsche Macan have firmly established themselves as sports cars among compact SUVs. As the sporty flagship of the successful SUV line-up, the Macan GTS sits at the top of the range. Its 2.9-litre V6 biturbo engine delivers 440 PS with the responsiveness and power delivery typical of Porsche GTS cars. It completes the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 4.3 seconds when fitted with the Sport Chrono package and reaches a top speed of 272 km/h.
The Macan S is now also equipped with a 2.9-litre V6 biturbo engine that produces 380 PS. This propels the vehicle from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds while it has a top speed of up to 259 km/h. A turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 195 kW (265 PS) serves as the entry point to the Macan world, completing the standard 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 6.2 seconds and reaching a top speed of 232 km/h. All engines are coupled to the seven-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK) and the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel-drive system.
Soul, Electrified. The Porsche Taycan
Since its introduction in 2019, the Taycan continues to turn heads with its sleek design and sharp performance, and has been extensively optimised in almost every respect. The four-door sports saloon is a unique package, offering Porsche performance and timeless design with everyday usability. As the first production vehicle with a system voltage of 800 volts instead of the usual 400 volts for electric cars, the Taycan features a charging time from 5 to 80 percent SoC (State of Charge) in just 22.5 minutes under ideal conditions. With just 10 minutes at a fast charger, more than 100km of range can easily be gained.
Porsche has also expanded the Taycan model line with the versatile Taycan Cross Turismo. The new high-tech chassis with all-wheel drive and adaptive air suspension ensures uncompromising dynamics off-road. Up to forty seven millimetres more headroom for rear-seat passengers and more than 1,200 litres of load capacity, loaded through the large tailgate at the rear, make the Cross Turismo a true all-rounder.The Turbo variant can generate up to 680 PS of overboost power in combination with Launch Control, accelerating from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds.
Style, comfort and performance: the Porsche Panamera
A unique symbiosis of contrasts: the new Porsche Panamera covers a wide spectrum from sports car performance to the comfort of an exclusive saloon. As a pioneer for hybrid technology, Porsche also continues to pursue its E-Performance strategy with the Panamera E-Hybrid models. The Panamera 4 E-Hybrid features an electric motor that is complemented by a 243 kW (330 PS) 2.9-litre biturbo V6, resulting in a system power output of 340 kW (462 PS). Comfort and sportiness both benefit from enhanced chassis components and control systems in combination with the new-generation steering control and tyres.
Porsche also offers a particularly elegant and exclusive version of the Panamera: the Platinum Edition. This refined special edition of the Panamera combines discreet Satin Gloss Platinum design features with an extended list of standard equipment.
Porsche Thailand offers unparalleled driving experiences with Manthey Performance Kit
